Fort Osage has a new program called Farm to Fort. This initiative creates partnerships with local farmers in and around our district, brings local fruits and vegetables to our cafeterias, and enhances current programs already in place at several schools to include school gardens, farm education, and overall awareness of the benefits of this initiative. The planning committee consists of members from the food service, culinary arts, and AG departments along with outside members who have expertise in this area. October is National Farm to School month. Since this is the perfect time to kick off our initiative, Elm Grove will participate in "The Great Apple Crunch" at 10:00 am on October 1. Students and staff will eat an apple together and unveil the District banner. It will be streamed on Facebook Live. We look forward to watching this program “grow”. Comments are closed.
