On Saturday, April 22 dozens of volunteers participated in the first annual Operation Fort Pride event at Fort Osage School District. The hallways at Osage Trail Middle School were painted while Buckner Elementary received landscape cleanup and paint to their cafeteria and counseling center. The event was a huge success that was made possible by the overwhelming support of many Fort Family members who participated. Thank you for the support!
The high school broadcasting program, led by Mr. Ben Merithew, was selected as one of three high school programs in the country for Broadcast Program of the Year. With over 1,900 schools participating in the National Federal of High Schools, Fort Osage is certainly considered an elite program. Fort’s programs include daily news, weekly news, monthly news, and high school sports coverage. They also cover other newsworthy events such as graduation, Convocation, and the State of the District Address. Congratulations for a job well done!
The annual Steak Fry was held on April 24 at Fort Osage High School in order to honor the tremendous employees of Fort Osage. Those honored at the event were building Teachers of the Year, Step Above support staff nominees, service award winners, retirees, and Pioneers in Education recipients. Thank you all for the tremendous impact you have made on our students. Since the April 4 election there has been much time spent planning for the upcoming capital improvements. Below is an estimated timeline for the start of various projects.
Summer 2017 Playground Improvements (Equipment and Soft Play Installation) Relocation of Transportation Fuel Tank (necessary for eventual stadium improvements) Fall 2017 Warehouse Freezer Replacement Early Childhood Center Construction District Stadium Renovations (Track and Stadium Improvements begin after football season) Summer 2018 Roof Improvements (Blue Hills, Fire Prairie, District Warehouse) High School Breezeway Enclosure Resurface Hard Play at Fire Prairie Playground (Asphalt Work) Walking Trail Resurface (Existing Trails at Blue Hills, Buckner, Elm Grove) The end of the school year also means standardized testing season. Whether a standardized test is performed in your classroom or not, it is likely the testing schedule impacts you in some fashion. I appreciate the hard work that goes into test preparation and know that the students and staff will do a great job. Does anyone enjoy visiting QT?
