Open Enrollment is scheduled for October 18-October 29 and will take place via telephone. Benefit guides that include how to sign up for your enrollment appointment, rates, plan details, and a detailed video presentation regarding the benefit offerings will be sent out soon. Below is a brief overview of a few of the updates for 2022. All employees are required to complete the Open Enrollment process.
Medical For 2022 the district medical insurance will remain with Cigna and offer the same 4 plans that we currently offer in 2021. The district contribution for 2022 will increase from $633 per month to $710 per month. Voluntary Benefits Dental For 2022 the district's dental coverage will be moving to Cigna. Supplemental Products The district has three new voluntary supplemental products that will be offered during Open Enrollment that include ID theft protection, Permanent Life Insurance and Legal Services.  In April 2021, the patrons of the Fort Osage School District approved a no tax increase bond issue and a no tax increase levy transfer. As a result of the passage of these two issues, the projects below are being completed in the next two years. The information below is the tentative schedule and is subject to change based on weather conditions, manufacturing and shipping schedules.
District Transportation/Maintenance/Central Office Building: Grading at the site began on September 7. Construction companies are currently bidding on the construction of the building and a company will be selected at the November board meeting. The brick and mortal central office building will begin by early December. There is currently a delay in the manufacturing and shipping of the transportation and maintenance pre-engineered metal building. Once that is received in the spring it will be constructed. Kitchen Renovations: The kitchens at Blue Hills, Fire Prairie, Buckner and Osage Trail are being designed and work will performed in the summer of 2022. Work on the kitchens at Cler-Mont, Elm Grove, Indian Trails and the high school will be done in the summer of 2023. Road and Drive Improvements: The drive improvements at Blue Hills, Fire Prairie, Osage Trail along with the new bus drive from the new transportation building to the main campus will be performed in the summer of 2022. The drive and parking improvements at the main campus west of Indian Lane including the main entrance will occur in the summer of 2023. New Gym at the High School: The design of the new gym at the high school has begun. Work will begin in the summer of 2022 and be completed in the summer of 2023. Band Room Renovation and Expansion at the High School: The design of the band room renovation and expansion at the high school has begun. The work will be performed in the summer of 2023.  I am aware of the stress the worker shortage is placing on our school district. We are continuing to attempt to recruit additional substitute teachers, bus drivers, and para educators, as well as other vacant positions. In December, DESE is going to allow those who don't have 60 credit hours to obtain substitute certification through testing. Please share this information with folks and encourage them to apply.
