I’m thankful for the Fort Osage School District and the opportunity to work with such dedicated and caring people. Being a member of the Fort Family gives me the opportunity to work cooperatively with wonderful people who continue to do great things for the students of our District. Thank you for the countless things you do on a daily basis to make our school the special place we call Fort. Substitute shortages is an issue that all metro district's are facing. Fort has continued to work on attracting and retaining substitutes. We have been placing ads on Facebook, placed fliers in local businesses and school offices as well as posted a banner on school delivery vehicles that travel around the District in order to recruit additional people. Additionally, we continue to immediately interview all new applicants and are continuing to find ways to recruit including job posting sites, speaking at the retired teacher meetings, contacting universities, etc.
Although all these methods help we still need more subs. If you know someone who has 60 college credit hours and would like to work with kids on a part time basis please talk to them about substituting for the district or have them call Debbie Peterson at 816-650-7004 for more details. More detailed information can be found in Dr. Gastin's email which was sent to all staff on November 18, 2019. A few important reminders about the upcoming HSA transition for 2020.
Knowing you will temporarily lose access to your HSA funds, plan accordingly. For example if you know you will need a costly prescription drug refilled January 6th through January 16th and intend to use your HSA balance, plan to have that transaction completed prior to January 5 if possible. You may also pay yourself out of your HSA prior to the black out period. Be sure to keep your medical receipts to prove that you used that money to pay for qualified expenses. Go365 Reminder A reminder that if you have not yet cashed in your Go365 bucks balance, you will only have until December 31 to do so. After that any points, bucks and rewards will no longer be available to any members. Each fall central office administrators travel to every school to discuss improvement plans. The visits have recently been completed and everyone is extremely pleased with the work being done toward continued improvement. The student successes are a direct result of the difference you’re making on a daily basis.
