New employees to the District were happy to see me on September 25 as I made my rounds delivering their first paycheck. It was enjoyable for me as well. We are fortunate to have such loyal folks (regardless of how long you’ve been with the District).
Open Enrollment will include changes this year, including a medical carrier change to Humana as well as the addition of an optional vision insurance plan for employees. Make note of the Open Enrollment meetings which will include a representative from Humana, Assurant, Colonial, UMB and the District to go over these changes and answer questions you may have. Open enrollment meetings are scheduled for Monday, October 16 and Tuesday, October 17 at 3:00 pm and 5:00 pm in the High School PAC. In addition, you will once again schedule a small window of time to sit and meet with an enroller in your building to go over the choices you have made for 2018. Those meetings will occur the week of October 30-November 3 at all buildings in the district. You will receive an email from the District's Benefits Coordinator, Laura Ford with all of the information regarding your insurance options for 2018 as well as the link to sign up for an enrollment date in the coming weeks. The District Innovation Team is the latest group in Fort Osage to address the challenges of the future, and they will be meeting throughout the year to both envision the evolution of Fort Osage and take the risks required individually and collectively to prepare our students for their futures and further the growth of every learner in the district. The team is working to develop and implement innovative ideas in areas as diverse as problem/project based learning, alternative school structures and teaching the 4 Cs of 21st century learning. If you are interested in being part of this team as it moves forward, please contact Maria Fleming. As the year progresses, we hope to involve more stakeholders in our ongoing effort to build the strongest future possible for Fort Osage. The district is utilizing Educational Management Solutions (EMS) to conduct a compensation study for all classified staff positions. EMS worked with the district a few years ago to develop new job descriptions and they are continuing that work with the compensation study. The District conducted an internal study of the Teacher's Salary Schedule last year.
